About the Programme
It is common for families in Singapore to entrust their migrant domestic workers (MDWs) with household chores and to provide caregiving support to young children. Knowing that our households and children are well looked after by a skilled MDW will give parents peace of mind.
The Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE), together with our partner NTUC LearningHub, in consultation with SEED Institute and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, have developed a programme in “Responsive Caregiving for Young Children” to equip MDWs with skills to look after young children (18 months to 6 years old).
Your MDW will learn about:
• Developmental milestones for young children
• Role of a caregiver
• Safety, health & hygiene practices at home
• How to spot common illnesses in young children
• How to interact with young children
• Foster positive relationship between caregivers & children
• Effective communications between caregivers and family members
• How to maintain self-care and mindfulness
A certificate of participation by NTUC Learning Hub will be presented to the course participant who fulfils the assessment and attendance criteria. Please note that this module comprises 3 online sessions and 1 in-person assessment session. Participants must attend all 4 sessions to complete the programme.
